KCCA FC co-head coach Jackson Magera challenged his side to be more clinical and composed as they prepare to host an in-form Kitara FC on Friday evening at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo on Matchday 23 of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
The Cityzens head into the clash seeking a response after a difficult run that saw them bow out of the cup and suffer a league defeat to SC Villa.
For Magera, the focus has quickly shifted to correcting key areas, particularly breaking down stubborn defenses.
“We have had a tough run in the last two games, but the focus is now on Kitara,” Magera noted ahead of the encounter. “They are a well-organised side, especially defensively, but we have worked on our finishing and how to break down compact blocks.”
KCCA’s task will be anything but straightforward. Kitara arrive with momentum, having won their last three league matches without conceding and boasting an impressive defensive record just one goal conceded in their last five league games and none in their last five matches in all competitions.
Despite the visitors’ form, Magera remains confident his side can rise to the occasion, especially with the backing of the home crowd.
“The boys know what is at stake, and playing at home gives us the confidence to go out and get the result our fans deserve,” he added.
The stakes are high for both sides. KCCA sit third with 45 points, while Kitara occupy second place with 47.
A win for the hosts would see them leapfrog their opponents into second with 48 points, tightening the race at the top.
The reverse fixture in Hoima ended in a 1-1 draw, and historically, KCCA hold a slight edge in this fixture, winning four of the last eight meetings across all competitions, compared to Kitara’s three victories.
Form coming into the match, however, tilts slightly in favour of the visitors. While KCCA have recorded convincing wins in recent weeks, inconsistency has crept in.
Kitara, by contrast, have been dominant and disciplined, combining defensive solidity with efficient attacking displays.
Operation KCCA is fully activated.

On the team news front, KCCA will be without Derrick Nsibambi and Bright Anukani due to knee injuries, while Umar Lutalo and James Mubezi continue their rehabilitation.
The rest of the squad remains available for selection.
With momentum on Kitara’s side, Magera’s emphasis on efficiency and execution could prove decisive as KCCA aim to rediscover their rhythm and keep their ambitions firmly on track.
