Head coach Wasswa Bbosa has challenged his Kitara FC players to stay focused and fight for maximum points when they host title chasing rivals NEC FC at Royals Park in Butema on Saturday.
With only four league matches left to play, the encounter carries huge importance for the Royals, who are still firmly in the race for the StarTimes Uganda Premier League crown.
Kitara currently sit third on 54 points and know that anything short of victory could dent their ambitions.
Despite the pressure, the team draws confidence from an impressive home record, having remained unbeaten at Royals Park across all competitions this season.
Bbosa acknowledged the quality of the visitors but insisted his side understands the magnitude of the contest.
“We face a good opponent, but we have our target; to win and close the gap. The team is ready and knows what is at stake,” Bbosa noted ahead of the clash.
NEC head into the game in strong form and have not tasted defeat in their last 16 matches. Their first round meeting with Kitara produced an entertaining 3-3 draw in Lugogo, underlining the competitiveness between the two sides.
Kitara will once again rely on their attacking options to deliver in front of goal after creating several opportunities in the recent goalless Stanbic Uganda Cup semifinal encounter against Vipers SC.
The likes of Patrick Kaddu, Muhammad Shaban, George Senkaaba, Kabon Living, and Edson Agondeze are all expected to play key roles.
In team news, Kitara will miss suspended goalkeeper Meddie Kibirige, who is serving a two-match ban. Apart from that setback, the rest of the squad is available for selection ahead of the high-stakes encounter.
