Victor Osimhen returned to the scoresheet as Galatasaray secured a 3–0 victory over city rivals Fenerbahçe at RAMS Park on Sunday, bolstering their push to defend the Turkish Süper Lig title.
Fenerbahçe had an early opportunity to take the lead, but Anderson Talisca failed to convert from the penalty spot in the 11th minute.
Osimhen, who recently returned from injury, put Galatasaray ahead five minutes before halftime with a composed finish, marking his 13th league goal of the campaign.
Osimhen thought he had added a second in the 53rd minute, but the effort was ruled out for offside. However, the home side didn’t have to wait long to extend their lead.
Barış Alper Yılmaz scored Galatasaray’s second in the 67th minute, calmly converting a penalty to double the advantage.
Lucas Torreira then sealed the emphatic win three minutes from time. Following the victory, Okan Buruk’s side has now opened up a commanding seven-point lead at the top of the table.
