Malawi: Wanderers coach Mpinganjira undergoes QPR FC attachment

Malawi’s Mighty Wanderers FC coach Bob Mpinganjira will prolong his stay in the United Kingdom to undergo a two-week attachment at Queens Park Rangers (QPR) FC.

The coach, who led the Nomads to the 2025 TNM Super League championship, has proceeded to the Sky Bet Championship side after attending a similar study tour at Scottish club Partick Thistle FC.

Mpinganjira was attached to the second-tier Scottish Championship team for three weeks to enrich his career through a Coach Education and Professional Development Programme.

Now, in a statement, the Blantyre-based giants confirmed that QPR invited the Nomads all-time leading scorer for a similar study tour which is underway.

“Mighty Wanderers Football Club is pleased to announce that Head Coach Mr. Bob Mpinganjira has received a formal invitation to undertake a two-week professional observership at Queens Park Rangers Football Club (QPR) in London, United Kingdom, from 13th to 25th April 2026,” reads the statement.

“During the programme, Mr Mpinganjira will be attached within QPR’s U-18 and Development squad, where he will observe coaching sessions, physical preparation, gym work, and video analysis.

“The observership will provide first-hand exposure to elite academy operations and player development structures at the English club.”

The extended stay of Mpinganjira in the UK will see him miss the FDH Premiership opening match against Civil Service United FC on April 2025. His right handman McDonald Mtetemera will take charge of the proceedings.

What to know about Wanderers FC

Formed in 1962, the Nomads are Malawi’s second biggest club in terms of large fan base behind FCB Nyasa Big Bullets who dominate the cocuntry’s football in every respect.

However, in terms of league titles, Wanderers are the third most successful side in Malawi with eight league championships behind Silver Strikers (nine) and Bullets (17).
