Botola Pro: AS FAR qualify for the CAF Champions League after victory on final matchday

Wydad AC will compete in CAF club competition next season, just not the competition that the Casablanca's supporters prefer. WAC defeated Renaissance Zemamra 2-0 on Sunday but it was not enough to overtake AS FAR.

The Royal Army club defeated Hassania Agadir 3-0 to claim runner-up honors in Morocco's Botola Pro and a place in next season's CAF Champions League.

Khalid Ait Ouarkhane opened the scoring for AS FAR with a powerful strike in the 57th minute and the visitors from Rabat did not look back. Abdelfettah Hadraf doubled the lead three minutes later and Hicham Boussefiane added one more later in the second half for a 3-0 victory.

AS FAR are now the confirmed runners-up to RS Berkane who ran away with the title in a dominant campaign for the participants in the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup final. Wydad will have to settle for participation in next season's Confederation Cup after finishing third with Sunday's 2-0 victory over Renaissance Zemamra.

Mohamed Rayhi opened the scoring for Wydad from the penalty spot in the 12th minute and Cassius Mailula doubled the lead close to halftime for his fifth league goal of the season.

Wydad's victory comes as unfortunate news to FUS Rabat, whose 3-0 victory at COD Meknes is not enough to qualify the capital club for continental competition next season. FUS finish one point behind Wydad in fourth place with the result.

Champions RS Berkane concluded their domestic league campaign with a 3-1 victory at Maghreb Fez before they prepare for the CAF Confederation Cup final against Tanzania's Simba SC. RSB host the first leg on May 17 before traveling to Tanzania for the second leg on May 25.
