Wydad Casablanca part ways with Patrice Carteron after disappointing run

Wydad AC have officially announced the dismissal of French coach Patrice Carteron following a poor series of results.

In an official statement, the Moroccan giants confirmed that the separation was reached by mutual agreement, ending Carteron’s short and unsuccessful tenure as head coach.

“Wydad Athletic Club informs its loyal supporters and all club members that it has decided to part ways by mutual consent with Mr. Patrice Carteron as head coach of the first team.”

Interim Coaching Staff Appointed for Wydad AC

Wydad have named Mohamed Benchrifa as interim head coach until the end of the season.

New Technical Staff:

  • Mohamed Benchrifa – Head Coach
  • Youssef Achami – Assistant Coach
  • Idriss Wajou – Fitness Coach
  • Tarek Jarmouni – Goalkeeping Coach

Carteron’s Difficult Spell

Carteron’s time with WAC lasted just five matches:

  • 0 wins
  • 2 draws
  • 3 defeats

His final blow came after a 2-1 defeat against bottom-placed Yacoub El Mansour in Round 17 of the Moroccan league.

Carteron leaves WAC in the fourth place in the Moroccan league standings with 31 points, placing them six points behind the league leaders MAS Fes.
