Zambian side Kansanshi Dynamos FC have commented on the future of their head coach Mohamed Fathi amid questions on his whereabouts.
With the MTN Super League season at its crescendo, the Egyptian has been conspicuously absent from the team’s assignments. This has sparked rumours that the coach might be on its way out of the team.

However, in a statement, the Solwezi-based club clarified that Fathi was still part of the team, attributing his absence to pre-occupation with coaching studies.
“Coach Fathi has been away from his duties since after our Week 22 fixture, as he attends to his academic commitments as well as other important personal matters,” reads the statement.
“During this period, the club has continued to offer its full support, ensuring he is given the necessary time to manage both his studies and personal responsibilities.”
Reports indicate that the former Napsa Stars mentor is attending a CAF Elite Pro Licence course with the Egyptian Football Federation in Cairo.
Fathi is a well-known figure in Zambian football circles after steering Napsa Stars to their first-ever appearance in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage in 2021.
Meanwhile, Kansanshi Dynamos have since named Dennis Makinka as the stand-in coach ‘until the head coach returns to full duties.”
Makinka will take charge of the proceedings when his outfit faces ZESCO United on Thursday.
Fathi’s team lie in 12th place in the 18-member log table with 32 points from 27 games, 24 points behind runaway leaders Power Dynamos FC.
