Edmond Tapsoba extends Bayer Leverkusen contract

Burkina Faso defender Edmond Tapsoba has agreed to sign a new contract at Bayer Leverkusen.

The central defender is one of the most dedicated players of the club having already spent six seasons at the Bundesliga side.

The 27-year-old joined the Black and Reds from Vitoria Guimaraes where he spent a combined three seasons at the junior and senior side of the Portugal club.

Tabsoba agreeing to extend his contract with Leverkusen has been confirmed by global transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Tabsoba has been linked to several European clubs including Turkish Super Lig side Beşiktaş.

His contract was to expire in June 2028 but the 3-year extension keeps him with Die Werkself until 2031.

For this season in the Bundesliga, Tapsoba has played 26 matches with five goals and three assists.

His trophy cabinet includes the Bundesliga, DFB Pokal and the DFL Super Cup in the 2023/24 season.

The former Salitas ane Leixoes defender played four matches with one goal as the Stallions exited the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after losing 3-0 against Ivory Coast in round 16.

He has played 60 times with four goals scored in Burkina Faso shirt.
