Speaking ahead of the encounter, Gonçalves emphasized that his side is fully prepared to maintain their winning momentum as the title race intensifies. The Portuguese tactician underlined that Yanga’s ambition is to secure maximum points in every fixture, regardless of the opponent.
“Our objective is to win every match we play. At this stage of the season, every game is like a final, and we must approach it with full concentration and determination,” said Gonçalves.
Yanga currently sit at the top of the league standings and are keen to extend their dominance as they push closer to securing the championship. Despite their strong position, Gonçalves warned against complacency, particularly when facing a struggling KMC FC side.
KMC are currently at the bottom of the table with just nine points, but Gonçalves believes their position does not reflect the challenge they could pose. He noted that teams fighting to avoid relegation often show heightened motivation and resilience.
“They are in a difficult position, but that does not make this an easy match. KMC still have their own objectives in the league and will fight hard to get results. They will come into this game with respect for us because we are leading the league,” he explained.
The Yanga coach reiterated that his players have fully embraced the philosophy of respecting every opponent, regardless of their standing or reputation. He stressed that underestimating any team could prove costly in such a competitive league environment.
In terms of preparations, Gonçalves revealed that the squad recently concluded a two-week training camp and was given a short rest period before resuming final training sessions. He expressed confidence that the team’s preparations have been thorough and effective.
“We had a good period of training, followed by some rest, and now we are focused on the final preparations. I believe the team is ready, and we are determined to leave the pitch with all three points,” he added.
The match is expected to kick off at 16:00 EAT, with Yanga aiming to continue their impressive run and strengthen their grip at the top of the table.
