Al Hilal seek to tighten grip on Rwanda Premier League as Round 31 continues

The Rwanda Premier League resumes today with five crucial fixtures set to be played across different venues as the race for the title and survival edges closer to a dramatic conclusion.

League leaders Al Hilal Omdurman will be in action away to Muhanga FC at 15:00 CAT, aiming to strengthen their grip at the top of the table with only a few rounds remaining in the season.

Another important encounter will see APR FC host AS Kigali in what is expected to be one of the standout matches of Round 31. APR are under pressure to keep pace with the leading sides as they continue their pursuit of the championship.

Elsewhere, Gasogi United will entertain Etincelles FC, while Rutsiro FC face Amagaju FC in another battle with significant implications at the lower end of the standings. The final fixture of the day will feature Al Merrikh taking on Kiyovu Sports.

The latest round of matches began yesterday with four games played at different stadiums across Rwanda, with Al Hilal looking to clinch the title.

At Kigali Pele Stadium, Gicumbi FC produced a late comeback to defeat Bugesera FC 2-1 in an entertaining contest. Bugesera opened the scoring early in the 15th minute before Claude Rukundo equalised for Gicumbi in the 37th minute. Alex H sealed the victory dramatically in stoppage time with a winning goal in the 95th minute.

The result lifted Gicumbi to 35 points after 31 matches, while Bugesera remain on 40 points and sit ninth on the league table.

Mukura Victory Sports also secured an important 2-1 home win against Gorilla FC. The victory pushed Mukura to 45 points from 31 matches and into seventh place, while Gorilla FC remain 11th with 36 points.

In another fixture, Musanze FC and Police FC played out a goalless draw. Police FC remain sixth with 47 points after 31 matches, while Musanze sit 10th with 39 points.

The final match of the evening saw Rayon Sports claim a valuable 2-1 victory over Marines FC. The win keeps Rayon Sports fourth on the standings with 51 points from 31 matches, while Marines occupy eighth place with 41 points.

Al Hilal Lead Title Race as Al Merrikh, APR FC and Rayon Sports Chase.

As the title race intensifies, Al Hilal Omdurman continue to lead the standings with 67 points from 29 matches. Al Merrikh are second with 58 points, while APR FC sit third on 56 points after 30 matches. Rayon Sports complete the top four with 51 points.

At the bottom of the table, Muhanga FC remain in deep relegation trouble in 17th place with 27 points from 30 matches, while Rutsiro FC sit bottom with 26 points after the same number of games.
