Dynamos battle to draw against Mutondo Stars

Newly crowned Zambia Super League champions Power Dynamos were held to a 2-2 draw by Mutondo Stars at Arthur Davies Stadium in an entertaining MTN Super League encounter today.

Dynamos started brightly and took the lead in the ninth minute through Linos Makwaza Jr, who finished calmly after the hosts had created early pressure.

The home side continued to push forward, with Kapembwa Musonda denied in a one-on-one situation, while Ronel Manyanga later sent a free kick over the bar.

Mwanza made saves for Dynamos

Mutondo Stars had chances before halftime, but Goalkeeper Willard Mwanza made an important save to deny Kiala, who later missed another clear opportunity as Power went into the break leading 1-0.

Dynamos made a triple substitution at the start of the second half, introducing Emmanuel Osoro, Jericho Mwila and Frederick Mulambia, a change that immediately added energy to the team.

Mulambia made the impact count in the 57th minute, doubling Power’s lead with a well-taken finish after Makwaza had earlier gone close with an audacious half-volley.

Mutondo responded through Wansanga Mhango in the 64th minute and Langson Mbewe in the 86th minute to earn a point.

Goalkeeper Willard Mwanza saved a penalty to keep Power ahead, but was later stretchered off due to injury and replaced by Josphat Lilanda.

The draw took Dynamos tally of points to 72, while second-placed Red Arrows have 56 points.
