Power Dynamos etched their name deeper into Zambian football history after sealing the 2025-26 league title with four games to spare, following a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Konkola Blades in Chililabombwe on Saturday.

Dynamos set the tone early, breaking the deadlock in the 17th minute through Chifundo Mphasi. The winger showed sharp awareness to dispossess a defender before racing through on goal and firing past goalkeeper David Mumba with a clinical finish.
Despite creating several chances to extend their lead, Dynamos were left to rue missed opportunities. Konkola Blades capitalised on that wastefulness in the 40th minute, drawing level through Kelly Kayembe, who powered in a well-placed header from a corner at the near post.
However, the parity was short-lived. Minutes later, Samuel Ayodeji restored the visitors’ advantage, rising highest to head home from a Mphasi corner and gave Power a crucial lead heading into halftime.
The second half saw a more controlled and disciplined display from the champions. Under the guidance of Head Coach Osward Mutapa, Dynamos managed the game effectively, limiting threats while maintaining composure.
Tactical substitutions, including the introduction of Salulani Phiri, Linos Makwaza Jr, and Ronel Manyanga, added fresh energy and ensured the visitors held firm until the final whistle.
Speaking after the match, Mutapa expressed satisfaction with the achievement, emphasising the importance of securing the title early.
Mutapa noted the victory allows the team to shift focus to the ABSA Cup, while praising his squad’s consistency, resilience, and determination throughout the campaign.
With this triumph, Dynamos reaffirm their dominance in Zambian football, capping a remarkable season by securing a record ninth league title in emphatic fashion.
