Osimhen urged to join Real Madrid

Nigeria forward Victor Osimhen has been urged to join Spanish giants Real Madrid after guiding Galatasaray to the Turkish Super Lig title this season.

According to Glorioso 1904, international reports claim José Mourinho has reached an agreement with Real Madrid and would leave Benfica at the end of the season, with Florentino Pérez said to favour the move.

The report adds contract terms are already agreed, suggesting the Benfica head coach could depart when the campaign finishes. If so, the Estoril match would be his last in charge.

‘I will ask Osimhen to leave Galatasaray’

Mourinho has already picked on players he would want to have in Real Madrid with reports linking Osimhen to Spain. According to former Nigerian player John Utaka, Osimhen should take the opportunity to work under Mourinho.

“If I were Osimhen, I would go because if Mourinho has requested for him, it means he really wants him. Osimhen wants to win trophies and Real Madrid is a perfect fit”, the former Montpellier forward told Brila FM as quoted by Complete Sports.

“Personally, I will plead with Osimhen to leave Galatasaray and go. Football is about winning trophies and creating history. If the club, he’s going to gives him a better chance to win titles and grow financially, then he should take that opportunity.

“At the end of the day, people remember trophies and the teams that achieved them more than individual awards. That’s why generations still talk about the 1996 Olympics team because success creates history that can never be forgotten.”

Osimhen had a dominant 2025-26 season with Galatasaray, securing the Turkish Süper Lig title and a domestic double, cementing his status as the team’s primary offensive weapon.

As of May 2026, he has scored 15 goals and delivered five assists in 22 games across all competitions, frequently appearing as a decisive player, including a match-winning double against Antalyaspor.
