Taiwo Awoniyi honours Nottingham Forest teammates after reaching 100-cap milestone

Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi has thanked his teammates for keeping the club in the English top flight after being honoured by the Tricky Trees to mark his 100th appearance.

Awoniyi achieved the milestone during Forest’s stunning 3-1 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge two weeks ago.

The Nigerian international was gifted a commemorative shirt by the Premier League club in recognition of the feat on Friday, receiving a round of applause from his teammates and club staff during the morning training session.

Awoniyi on teammates’ impact

Speaking after receiving the shirt, the 28-year-old stated that the achievement would not have been possible without the squad’s collective effort.

“Thank you guys. This would not have been possible without you guys. For all you have done this season, for where we are, for keeping the team in the Premier League.”

The Nigerian has registered four goals and one assist in 15 league appearances for the Tricky Trees this season.

He joined Forest from Bundesliga outfit Union Berlin in 2022.
