Durban City FC experienced midfielder Thabo Nodada has made a surprise admission about facing Orlando Pirates in the Betway Premiership title decider this afternoon.
The Soweto giants will host Durban City at Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday afternoon, gunning for a crucial maximum points to win the league. Pirates are currently sitting second on the league table with 65 points, and they are trailing log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by three points.
Masandawana are on 68 points, and they’ve already wrapped up their season, while the reigning MTN8 champions have two games in hand.
The Sea Robbers have a superior goal difference over Sundowns, and a win against Durban City will see Abdeslam Ouddou’s charges clinch the Premiership and end Downs’ eight successive seasons of dominance.
While the KZN-based side has a chance to spoil the Pirates’ party, Nodada has made a shock admission, revealing that they won’t enjoy the match.
“We are not going to enjoy that game, I saw a record that the stadium is sold out on a Tuesday,” Nodada said.
“Why do we come straight from winning the Nedbank Cup final, only to immediately have a hand in deciding a title race that is so far out of our own reach? Look, it’s a game of football, it’s 90 minutes. We will go there and give our absolute best, and if our best happens to be better than their best, then good luck to them.”
