Nigeria winger Ademola Lookman delivered yet again for Atlético Madrid, scoring the only goal in a 1-0 LaLiga win over Girona at Riyadh Air Metropolitano on Sunday.
The Super Eagle is finishing the season strongly, with back-to-back LaLiga goals and another match-winning performance at a crucial time.

Lookman scored a goal while taking three shots (one on goal), crossing once inaccurately and creating two chances during Sunday’s 1-0 win over Girona.
Lookman found the back of the net in the 21st minute scoring the lone goal of the match. The attacker has combined for two goals, seven shots, six chances created and five crosses over his last three starts.
On his 500th appearance for the club, and his last at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, Griezmann set up Lookman to grab the winner.
Lookman was later substituted in the 63rd minute for Clément Lenglet after delivering the decisive moment in the encounter.
He had returned among the goals as Atletico secured a hard-fought 2-1 win against Osasuna in a LaLiga fixture at Pamplona last Tuesday.
Lookman’s defensive work has improved in recent months; he won three of four ground duels in the first half. His footwork allowed him to navigate out of tight spaces and start counterattacking moves; in a post-Griezmann future, he’s going to be looked at as one of the solutions.
He joined Atlético Madrid from Atalanta in January 2026 for a reported €35-40 million, quickly becoming a key attacking figure.
While Diego Simeone’s side was assured of Champions League qualification, the defeat left Girona in the drop zone, two points from safety ahead of its final match of the season.
