African stars shine in Ligue 1 as Mbaye and Ganago deliver key goals for PSG and Nantes

African talent once again took center stage in Ligue 1 during Round 32, with Senegalese forward Ibrahim Mbaye and Cameroonian striker Ignatius Ganago both making major impacts for their respective clubs.

At the Parc des Princes, Paris Saint-Germain F.C. were held to a 2-2 draw by FC Lorient despite an early breakthrough from Ibrahim Mbaye.

The Senegalese star opened the scoring in just the 6th minute, heading home a cross from Désiré Doué. However, Lorient quickly responded through Pablo Pagis in the 12th minute.

PSG regained the lead in the 62nd minute through Warren Zaïre-Emery, but Lorient fought back once more as Aiyegun Tosin equalized in the 78th minute to secure a valuable point.

The draw slightly slows PSG’s march toward another league title, though the Parisian giants remain top of Ligue 1 with 69 points, holding a six-point advantage over second-placed RC Lens.

Meanwhile, in one of the round’s biggest surprises, FC Nantes stunned Olympique de Marseille with a dominant 3-0 victory.

Cameroon international Ignatius Ganago gave Nantes the lead in the 50th minute, opening the scoring with a crucial goal that sparked the upset. Nantes then extended their advantage through Rémy Cabella and Matthis Abline, sealing a surprising win.

This crucial triumph keeps Nantes’ survival hopes alive as they continue their battle against relegation. Nantes currently sit second from bottom (17th) with 23 points, just two points away from the relegation playoff position and seven points from guaranteed safety with only two rounds remaining.

With decisive contributions from African stars, both Mbaye and Ganago proved once again how influential African players remain across Europe’s top leagues.
