Barbra Banda scores to write more history with Orlando Pride

Zambia women’s national team forward Barbra Banda continued with her scoring form for Orlando Pride after she scored in a 1-0 National Women’s Soccer League victory against North Carolina Courage on Saturday.

A late goal from Banda was enough as the Orlando Pride overcame the NC Courage, despite a massive performance from Kailen Sheridan for the Courage.

Banda, who recently returned from injury has now scored eight goals from eight matches.

Banda had grabbed a brace last game

Banda entered the match in blistering form, having scored multiple goals in back-to-back games for the second time in her career. Only three other players in NWSL history — Megan Rapinoe, Sam Kerr, and Sydney Wilson — have accomplished that feat more than once.

By scoring against North Carolina, Banda joined an even more exclusive club: only Christen Press and Sam Kerr have ever scored multiple goals in three straight regular-season matches.

Six days ago, Banda delivered yet another masterclass display grabbing a brace in the 4-2 Orlando Pride home defeat to Washington Spirits.

Banda, who was on target twice the previous weekend, returned with another such display hitting the target twice in six minutes. This is after the visitors had gone ahead in the second and sixth minute through a brace by Sofia Cantore.

After Banda levelled matters, Washington Spirits returned wounded and posted two goals through Claudia Martinez in the 56th minute & Trinity Rodman in the 70th minute to walk away with three points.
