Simba SC's management team has finally confirmed that Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar will host the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup final on Sunday, May 25.

There was uncertainty surrounding the venue for the final after Simba had earlier settled for Benjamin Mkapa Stadium. However, a request from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) ordered the final be played in Zanzibar since Mkapa was still undergoing renovation.

Simba have issued a statement confirming the final for Amaan Stadium. The Msimbazi Reds played at Amaan Stadium during their semi-final of the competition against Stellenbosch from South Africa, winning the fixture 1-0, before securing a 0-0 draw in the return leg.

“The management of Simba wishes to inform members and fans that efforts from the government, Tanzania Football Federation (TFF), and the club to have the final played at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium have failed to materialise,” read part of the statement seen by Pan-Africa Football.

“The final against RS Berkane will now be played at Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar as per the request by CAF. We urge our fans to remain calm at this moment and get prepared to travel to Zanzibar to support the team as they play in their first-ever final of the competition.”

Simba will be aiming to overturn a 2-0 first-leg defeat.
