Trabzonspor have been dealt an injury blow as they confirmed that defender Chibuike Nwaiwu is expected to spend time on the sidelines due to a thigh injury.
The centre-back sustained the injury during Trabzonspor’s Süper Lig 3-1 victory over Fatih Karagümrük at Papara Park on Friday.
Nwaiwu, who bagged a brace for the “Black Sea Storm” in the game, was replaced by Mathias Løvik seventeen minutes from time. His compatriot, Paul Onuachu, was also on target for Trabzonspor in the match.

On Monday, the club confirmed the severity of the 22-year-old’s injury via their website following a medical examination.
“Following the examination and MRI scan of our player Chibuike Nwaiwu, who was injured and left the game during the Fatih Karagümrük match in the 24th week of the Trendyol Süper Lig Mehmet Ali Yılmaz Season, bleeding and edema were detected in the inner thigh muscle group of his left leg. Treatment for our player has been started by our medical team.”
Nwaiwu joined the Black Sea Storm from Austrian club Wolfsberger AC in January and has since made six league appearances for the side, instantly establishing himself as a regular contributor for the contenders.
