It has been a difficult 2025-26 season for OGC Nice but the Ligue 1 relegation fighters secured a place in the Coupe de France final after Elye Wahi scored both goals in a 2-0 semifinal victory at Strasbourg.

The Ivorian international, on loan from Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt, scored twice in the second half for the opportunistic visitors at the Stade de la Meinau. Despite dominating possession, hosts Strasbourg could only manage three shots on goal and fell prey to the Eagles’ strong counter-attacks.
After creating hardly any chances in the first half, Nice stunned the home supporters in the 51st minute on the break. Jonathan Clauss cut into the center of the pitch from the right wing and played a brilliant pass with the outside of his boot to find the run of Wahi, who had time to calculate his shot before finishing low past Strasbourg goalkeeper Mike Penders.
The home side boasted a strong attack led by in-form players Martial Godo and Diego Moreira but lacked the finishing touch. Late on it was the surprise finalists who earned a penalty kick opportunity and Wahi stepped up confidently to beat Penders again. The club from the French Riviera will face RC Lens in the final on May 22, where a victory would secure continental football next season.

It is the Ivorian international’s first goals in over a month. He has 6 goals and 2 assists in 14 matches since joining on loan midway through the campaign.
Les Aiglons will now turn their attention back to the Ligue 1 relegation fight, where they are on a four-match winless streak ahead of traveling to face Marseille on Sunday. They are four points out of the relegation playoff spot occupied by Auxerre with four matches to play.
