The 23-year-old missed Tottenham’s last two Premier League matches, against Brighton (2-2) and Wolverhampton (1-0 victory). Fortunately, the Senegalese midfielder (34 matches, 2 goals, 3 assists in all competitions this season) now appears to be fully recovered and fit.

Sarr’s available

Speaking ahead of Aston Villa fixture, Spurs manager Roberto De Zerbi said: “Today was the first day with the group but he worked very well. He’s available, yes. I have not decided yet the starting XI.”

De Zerbi added: “We think about Villa and then we go to speak about the other three games. I don’t know, if we win, yes, not now, we can’t think if we play before or after. It can be negative or it can be positive to give some more energy.”

Sarr signed for Spurs in 2021, but was loaned back to Metz until the end of the 2021-22 season. He made his long-awaited Premier League debut coming on as an 80th-minute substitute for Yves Bissouma in a 2-0 home loss to Aston Villa.

Sarr has featured regularly for Spurs, either coming off the bench or starting. He got his first goal contribution, an assist on 28 May 2023, in the last game of the season, a 4-1 away win at Leeds United.

On 19 August 2023, Sarr scored his first goal for Tottenham Hotspur on their first home game of the 2023-24 Premier League season, a 2-0 win against Manchester United.
