The Eritrea National Football Federation (ENFF) has organized two friendly games for the senior national side following two years of inactivity. The Eritrean national side last played a competitive match five years ago in the preliminary round of 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying. Since then, the Red Sea Camels haven't participated in the qualification rounds of either the Africa Cup of Nations or the World Cup.

To commemorate Eritrean Independence Day, the ENFF has invited Niger’s ‘A’ team and the South Sudan national team for friendlies in Asmara. Niger is currently preparing for the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN), set to take place in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. They are expected to use the match as part of their preparations and are scheduled to arrive in Asmara on Saturday, May 24.

South Sudan’s head coach, Nicolas Dupuis, has called up a squad composed predominantly of players from the domestic league. Eritrea, under head coach Alemseghed Efrem, is expected to field a team featuring mostly players from Super Division champions Denden FC and runners-up Red Sea FC.

Ethiopia-based forward Ali Sulieman is not expected to take part in the friendly games. Eritrea will host Niger on Monday, May 26, at Asmara Stadium. The mini tournament will end on May 28 at the same venue.
