FIFA has officially approved the sporting nationality switch of Ange-Yoan Bonny, allowing the Inter striker to represent Ivory Coast instead of France at senior international level.
The 23-year-old forward, who previously featured for France at youth levels, had never represented the senior national team, making him eligible to switch allegiance to the Elephants.
Bonny is now eligible to feature for Ivory Coast at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the African nation has been drawn into Group E alongside Germany, Ecuador, and Curaçao.
Born in France in 2003 to Ivorian parents, Bonny was previously included in Ivory Coast’s preliminary squad during the March 2026 international break for a friendly against South Korea, although he did not make an appearance.
Bonny has had a good season with Inter Milan, making 44 appearances across all competitions and scoring seven goals while helping the Nerazzurri secure the Serie A title.
The striker joined Inter from Parma at the start of the season in a deal worth €23 million.
His decision represents a significant boost for Ivory Coast as they strengthen their squad ahead of the World Cup, adding a young striker with top-level European experience to their attacking ranks.
