In a statement posted on his Facebook page, the Richards Bay FC forward described the contract with Alibaba Snacks as a personal milestone.
“This is more than just football… this is purpose,” the 34-year-old wrote.
“I am proud to step into a new chapter as the official brand ambassador for Alibaba Snacks.”
The former Orlando Pirates forward says the snacks manufacturer has brought him on board in recognition of his excellence on the field of play.
“Every goal I score carries the dreams of a nation…every step I take is for the young boy in Malawi who dares to believe. This journey has never been just about me. It’s about legacy, impact, and opening doors for those coming after me,” Mhango added.
“From the streets where it all began, to the biggest stages… now into the world of brands — the mission remains the same: represent Malawi with pride, discipline, and greatness. We are not just chasing success… we are becoming it.”
The 34-year-old has been sidelined by a long-term injury which has seen his contribution dwindle to just four goals this Betway Premiership season.
Despite being inactive, the former PSL Golden Boot Award winner has been busy off the pitch. The Malawian showed his competence as a SuperSport Television pundit for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Earlier, Richards Bay co-coach Ronnie Gabriel confirmed that Mhango suffered a long-term injury in February 2026.
“Gabadinho is still on the injury table, looks like a long-term injury. We just will be able to confirm going forward how many months,” Gabriel as quoted as saying by DailySports.
The former Orlando Pirates star suffered the injury after scoring four goals in 14 appearances in the PSL which is otherwise known as the Betway Premiership. Mhango remains the only Malawian footballer in the PSL.
