Despite the palpable sense of euphoria currently sweeping through the Kaizer Chiefs camp, defender Inácio Miguel has been quick to temper expectations, reminding his teammates of the immense pressure and responsibility that comes with representing the Gold and Black of the Soweto giants.
Amakhosi are currently enjoying a scintillating run of form, having successfully navigated their way to five consecutive victories in the Betway Premiership. This flawless winning streak has bolstered their aspirations of finishing within the league’s top three and, more importantly, has revitalised the club’s ambitions of securing a return to CAF inter-club competition for next season.
The impressive five-game surge saw the Glamour Boys register clinical results against Durban City FC [1-0], Magesi FC [2-0], Orbit College FC [3-1], TS Galaxy [2-0], and a recent 4-1 thumping of Magesi. As it stands, Chiefs occupy third place on the Betway Premiership log, having amassed 45 points from 23 league outings.

Speaking on the club’s current momentum, Miguel was adamant that five wins in a row should be viewed as a baseline requirement rather than an extraordinary milestone for a team of Chiefs’ stature. The Angolan international emphasised that the priority remains shifting the club’s culture from sporadic success to sustained dominance.
“In the past, our main problem was finding the consistency to establish momentum. It’s not about winning one or two games, it’s about putting in a run of four, five games, and I think we are now on the right road,” Miguel explained. “However, it’s not enough yet. Being at a big club like Kaizer Chiefs, it shouldn’t be a surprise to see a run like this; it should be expected, so we aim to make winning a habit.”
The return of the robust defender to the starting line-up has provided a massive tactical boost for the technical team. Reflecting on his recent absence, Miguel admitted to enduring a frustrating spell on the sidelines—a situation he described as a rare and difficult hurdle in his professional career.
“I’m happy to be fit again. It’s the first time in my career that I have missed so many games. It has been a bit difficult this season. Playing in CAF as well as PSL, there hasn’t been much time between games to recover. This has been a lesson to me. I must look at ways to avoid this situation going forward,” he added.
Kaizer Chiefs’ resolve will be put to the test once again in their next league assignment against Polokwane City FC today, Saturday, 18 April. The encounter is set for the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, with kick-off scheduled for 17:30.
