Young Africans (Yanga SC) have issued another statement, threating that they will not honour their Mainland Premier League Kariakoo derby against rivals Simba SC until the Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) resolves their concerns.
In addition to the derby, Yanga have vowed not to honour their remaining two league fixtures – one of which is the Federation Cup final against Singida Black Stars. According to Yanga Media Officer Ally Kamwe, Yanga will also not be ready to play in the new season until their concerns are listened to and resolved.
“We have issued four complaints to TPLB, concerning game number 184. We believe that if they work on those problems we have raised first, we will be ready to play that match on another date to be scheduled.
“And the fourth term is a long one, starting next season. The CEO of the League Board Almasi Kasongo should not lie to the public by choosing to talk about only one issue and leaving what needs to be addressed quickly, including his resignation.
“In our meeting we also asked about the report of what happened on March 8, and the CEO of the League Board, Almasi Kasongo admitted that they have the report and there is a big government leader who called to prevent the stadium gate from opening, but they cannot mention him publicly," said Yanga Media Officer Ally Kamwe.
Yanga have further called on the TPLB Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Almasi Kasongo to resign, saying he was not fit to hold the office.
“Our first and second appeals are related to the violations of the code that occurred on March 8. We want the committee of the management and management of the league together with the CEO of the league board Almasi (Kasongo), to take responsibility and resign for failing to uphold the rules and regulations governing our football. Our league is very big in Africa, and it needs serious people with the ability to lead it.”
At the same time, Yanga also want Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) TFF Secretary General Wilfred Kidao to resign.
“Our third demand is the resignation of TFF Secretary General Wilfred (Kidao) for failing to take action against consistently bad decisions made by referees. The referee’s committee is under the TFF under the Secretary General. You wonder how one referee makes repeated mistakes and yet he continues to be scheduled for the match without taking any punishment.”
Kamwe concluded: “I would like to inform members of the media that if our three demands are not worked on quickly, Young Africans SC will not be ready to play game number 184 (against Simba), both the remaining two league matches, and we will not take part in the Premier League next season. This is our stand, and we will not be shaken by anything.”
As well as the rescheduled Simba clash, which is set for June 15, Yanga’s other remaining matches include an away game against Tanzania Prisons and a home game versus Dodoma Jiji.
