Head coach of Medeama SC Ibrahim Tanko has shifted attention to the MTN FA Cup semifinals against Dreams fc after weeks of nerve wracking Ghana Premier League encounters.

The Mauve and Yellow will square off against the Still Believe Boys at the Swedru Stadium on Saturday.

Medeama who have won the FA Cup twice, will look to qualify for the finals against Dreams fc whose 2023/24 glory saw them reach the semifinals of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Ibrahim Tanko has managed to steer Medeama to the top of the league table with 53 points, two better than holders GoldStars from 29 games this campaign.

Ahead of the FA Cup clash against the 8th placed Drems fc, Ibrahim Tanko discussed preparations with the club’s media outlet.

Medeama have won FA Cup twice

“We are preparing very well, this is a different competition the MTN FA Cup, like you said, we are playing in the semi finals [and] we want to reach the finals so definitely we are preparing very well so that we will achieve our aim,” Ibrahim Tanko told MEDi TV.

“I don’t think we are going to take this one any differently, I mean we are going to prepare like we prepare in any of our league matches so definitely the preparation is going to be a very serious one.

“I’ve always said that we are competing in any cup that is available, we are first in the league and we are playing semifinals in the FA Cup so definitely we are going to do everything possible to reach the finals.”

Medeama have won two FA Cups, first in 2013 and the second a season later with both victories coming against second highest holders Asante Kotoko.

They were crowned champions of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season and currently sit top of the table after whitewashing Kotoko 4-0 in Tarkwa last Sunday.
