Nabulime reflects on landmark season with FC Masar

Uganda Crested Cranes midfielder Phiona Nabulime has described her 2025/26 campaign with FC Masar as a season defined by growth, consistency, and major achievement after helping the Egyptian side complete a historic domestic double.

Speaking to the Federation of Uganda Football Associations Media, Nabulime reflected on a memorable year that saw FC Masar successfully defend the Egyptian Women’s Premier League title for a second consecutive season before lifting the Egypt Women’s Cup to cap off an outstanding campaign.

Continental Experience in CAF Women’s Champions League

The midfielder also featured prominently in the CAF Women’s Champions League, where FC Masar reached the semi-finals, an experience she believes greatly elevated her confidence and understanding of the game at the highest level on the continent.

Nabulime explained that competing consistently at both domestic and continental levels challenged her mentally, physically, and tactically, helping her mature further as a player.

Reward for Hard Work and Sacrifice – Nabulime

According to the former Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC player, winning back-to-back league titles together with the domestic cup was a reward for years of hard work, discipline, and sacrifice. She added that the achievements have motivated her to continue improving and striving for even bigger milestones in her career.

Since making the move to Egypt in 2024, Nabulime says adapting to a new football environment has played a major role in her development. She highlighted the tactical nature of Egyptian football, revealing that teams place strong emphasis on match analysis, discipline, and understanding opponents before every game.

The Ugandan international further pointed out the physical demands and professionalism within the Egyptian league and the CAF Women’s Champions League, crediting the experience for improving her work rate, fighting spirit, and tactical awareness.

Looking ahead to Uganda’s upcoming Olympic qualifiers, Nabulime believes the exposure gained abroad will be valuable for the national team.

She noted that competing in high-pressure matches in Egypt and continental competitions has taught her important lessons in discipline, consistency, and managing difficult situations on and off the pitch.

Summing up the season in one word, Nabulime described the campaign as one of “growth,” emphasizing that it helped her discover the best version of herself while also delivering success through the league and cup triumphs with FC Masar.
