Orbit College confirm surprise venue change for Pirates encounter

In a surprising turn of events, Orbit College FC has confirmed a venue change for a Betway Premiership encounter against Orlando Pirates.

The North West outfit were scheduled to host Pirates, who are chasing the league title at Royal Bafokeng Stadium in the last match of the 2025/26 season.

Orbirt College and Pirates are left with two matches each before wrapping up the season. The two teams are on opposite sides of the league table, with the tussling Mamelodi Sundowns for the title, while the Mswenko Boys are in the relegation dog fight.

Pirates are sitting second on the log with 69 points in 28 games, whereas Orbit is occupying 14th place with 24 points.

With the two sides fighting for contrasting goals, they will face each other in the final match of the campaign; however, there is currently uncertainty about the venue to host the crucial match.

On Tuesday, Orbit College released a statement confirming that the match will not take place at Royal Bafokeng Stadium as initially scheduled. The club further revealed that the announcement for a new venue will be made on Friday, 15th May.

“Orbit College FC wishes to inform its supporters, stakeholders, members of the media, and the football community that the Betway Premiership fixture against Orlando Pirates scheduled for *Saturday, 23 May 2026 at 15h00* will no longer be played at Royal Bafokeng Stadium,” the club said.

“This follows confirmation from the stadium management that the facility will remain unavailable until 30 June 2026. The club is currently in the process of securing an alternative compliant venue capable of hosting a fixture of this magnitude. A final confirmation regarding the venue will be communicated by Friday, 15 May 2026.

“Orbit College FC apologises for any inconvenience caused and appreciates the patience, understanding, and continued support from all stakeholders during this process.”
