Zimbabwe international Tawanda Maswanhise has been shortlisted for the Scottish Football Writers’ Association (SFWA) Footballer of the Year award.
The nomination comes after the 23-year-old, who plays for Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership, won the Scottish Premiership club’s Young Player of the Year and Golden Boot awards.

Jens Berthel Askou has been nominated for the Scottish Football Writers Manager of the Year.
Elijah Just and Tawanda Maswanhise have both been nominated for the SFWA Player of the Year award.

The Warriors forward earned the recognition after raking in 22 goals across all Scottish Premiership games this season.
Maswanhise was included on the shortlist alongside teammate Elijah Just as well as Claudio Braga and Lawrence Shankland of Heart of Midlothian FC.
The statement confirmed: “Following their PFA Player of the Year nominations, Elijah Just and Tawanda Maswanhise have both been nominated for the SFWA Player of the Year awards.
“No Motherwell player has ever won the award. Winners will be announced on Sunday 17 May.”
The Zimbabwean joined the Fir Park club in 2024 and currently leads the scoring chart with a massive 17 goals in 31 games.
Earlier, the Warriors forward was also named in the PFA Scotland Premiership Team of the Year for 25/26. On the other hand, Emmanuel Longelo scooped Goal of the Season accolade for Motherwell FC.
So far this season, Maswanhise has scored 22 goals in all competitions, including 17 league goals to top the scoring charts.
