Rayon Sports FC became the first team to book a place in the final of the 2026 Peace Cup after edging past Gorilla FC on the away goals rule following a tightly contested semifinal clash.
The semifinal tie ended 1-1 on aggregate after both sides played out a goalless draw in the second leg. Rayon Sports had secured a crucial away goal in the first leg, which finished 1-1, and that proved enough to send the Blues into the final of Rwanda’s prestigious domestic cup competition.

They will now await the winner of the second semifinal, which is set to take place on May 13 at Kigali Pele Stadium. Defending champions APR FC will host Etincelles FC in the decisive second leg encounter scheduled to kick off at 18:00 CAT.
The reigning BK Pro League champions head into the clash with a strong advantage after securing a 3-1 victory in the first leg against Etincelles. The military side will be aiming to finish the job and set up a highly anticipated final showdown against their fierce rivals.
The possibility of another Kigali derby in the cup final has already generated excitement among football fans across Rwanda, with both clubs enjoying a historic rivalry and massive support.
Rayon reached the final after showing defensive discipline and composure over two legs against Gorilla FC, while APR remain favourites to progress due to their comfortable first leg lead.
The 2026 Peace Cup features intense competition from the semifinal stage. The final is expected to be staged at Amahoro Stadium later this month.
