Reading FC clear-out: Yiadom, Camara, Rushesha released

A mass clear-out has affected three African footballers in the English Football League (EFL) League One.

Reading FC have released Ghanaian defender Andy Yiadom, Guinea-Bissau midfielder Mamadi Camara and his Zimbabwean counterpart Tivonge Rushesha.

In a statement, the EFL League One says the “players will depart the club upon the expiration of their contracts this summer.”

What we know about Camara, Rushesha and Yiadom

Camara joined the club back in 2020 from the academy and made 75 first-team appearances and scored seven goals.

On the other hand, Rushesha will depart Reading FC after spending two seasons with them while making 38 appearances.

The same is the case with Ghanaian Yiadom, the full-back cum-right winger, who will leave Reading FC at the end of the season.

The EFL League One team has since saluted the Black Stars defender, saying he will depart “as a club stalwart, with eight years’ service under his belt.”

The defender served as the club’s captain and he recently celebrated his 250th appearance earlier this season.”

Not doom and gloom

Reading FC have also released Namibian international Ryan Nyambe back to his parent club Derby County.

However, it is not doom and gloom for all Africans at Reading FC.

The EFL League One team has opened contract renewal talks with Ghanaian youth international centre back Kelvin Abrefa and Zimbabwean midfielder Andy Rinomhota.
