Match entry tickets for South Africa’s Premier Soccer League match between hosts Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs scheduled for Wednesday, 6 May 2026, have sold out.
This proves that the fixture scheduled for Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria remains a blockbuster on South Africa’s football calendar. Kick-Off is 7:30pm Southern African Time.
Ahead of the game, Sundowns forward Tashreeq Matthews, who scored twice during the 3-0 whitewash of Polokwane City over the weekend, has urged their fans to patronise Wednesday’s encounter in large numbers.
“We would love you to come for the last push just to support us and see us go forward,” Matthews told his team’s media.
In a statement, the Premier Soccer League serial champions echoed the remarks of the rising star Matthews in calling for more supporters to patronise the game.
“Masandawana, let’s get behind Bafana Ba Style! No tickets will be sold at the stadium. The Brazilians need your voice! Let’s make it unforgettable! Tickets are sold out! Arrive early and enjoy the full gameday experience at Loftus,” reads the statement.
Coach Miguel Cardoso’s side is closing in on their league title defence following last Sunday’s result over Polokwane City courtesy of goals from Matthews, Iqram Rayners and Nuno Santos.
In a separate statement, AmaKhosi also confirmed that the ticket sold out, hence urged supporters who were unable to purchase them to follow the blockbuster from their locations.
“Supporters without tickets are urged to stay home and enjoy the game on television, while those attending are encouraged to arrive early to ensure smooth and safe entry into the venue. Gates will open at 16:30 hours. Kick-off set for 19:30 hours,” reads the statement.
The tie could go a long way in deciding the title for Masandawana who lead the standings, five points ahead of second place Orlando Pirates after having played one game more than the Buccaneers.
The maximum tally for the Pretoria-based giants—assuming they win all their remaining four games— is 73 points while the Soweto giants can go as far as 71 points.
Therefore, Cardoso’s charges just need seven points from their remaining maximum of nine to shrug off competition from the Buccaneers, who need to win all their remaining games at all costs to grab the championship.
