Zimbabwe’s representatives in the 2026-2027 CAF Champions League (CAFCL), Scottland FC have received a massive cash injection.

The Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) holders received a cash donation of USD 300,000 from business magnate Wicknell Chivayo on Wednesday, 22nd April 2026. The money is meant to contribute to the team’s CAFCL participation.

The businessman, who has also supported other Zimbabwean teams such as Highlanders and Simba Bhora FC financially before, rewarded the reigning champions for winning Independence Cup the previous Saturday.

Scottland won the cup after edging Highlanders FC 1-0 courtesy of Knowledge Musona’s goal.

A statement from the champions confirms the latest financial push from Chivayo. Scottland FC received the good news after their Castle Lager PSL match against Dynamos FC at Rufaro Stadium in Harare on Wednesday.

Scottland FC have received how much?

“We would like to thank our sponsor Sir Wicknell Chivayo for the several incentives given to the team today [Wednesday]: US$50 000 for winning the Independence Trophy at Maphisa Stadium on Saturday, US$300 000 to boost the squad for the CAF Champions League,” adds the statement.

“2026 Range Rover Sport worth US$280 000 for club chairman Everson Chatambudza, big bonus (via IMC) for a positive result against Dynamos on MatchDay 8 at Rufaro today [Wednesday]. We thank Sir Wicknell for his continued support to Scottland FC!”

Gearing up for maiden CAF Champions League debut

The Norman Mapeza-coached side will represent Zimbabwe in the next edition of the CAF Champions League after winning the Castle Lager PSL title last season.

Much will be expected from the expensively assembled squad for the league holders whose top players include Terrence Dzvukamanja, Khama Billiat, Walter and Knowledge Musona.

The Castle Lager PSL kings stunned established clubs in Zimbabwe after claiming the elite league championship in their maiden season under coach Tonderai Ndiraya last season.

The club eventually replaced Ndiraya with Mapeza.
