Sebastien Desabre: DR Congo coach undecided about future

DR Congo head coach Sebastien Desabre has decided to sit on the fence regarding his future with the Central African nation.

The Frenchman’s technical heroics helped the Leopards qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be co-hosted by Mexico, Canada and USA.

Desabre supervised a DRC through the continental qualifiers where they reached the CAF playoffs.

They eliminated Nigeria via a 4-3 penalty shootouts after the entire finals ended 1-1 in Morocco.

During the inter-confederation playoffs, DR Congo defeated Jamaica 1-0 to reach the World Cup for the first time in 52 years.

On his future after the 2026 World Cup, Sébastien Desabre doesn’t want to look ahead but just focused on the mundial.

“I don’t like to plan. That depends on opportunities. All things considered, in my head, I know what I’ve managed to achieve,” he told 13 Heures Foot.

“There, for the moment, my objective, in the short term, is to do well in the World Cup with the DRC. For the long-term objective, we’ll see.”

Desabre is under contract with FECOFA until 2029 and it remains to seem if he will renew his deal after that.

DR Congo will join Portugal, Uzbekistan and Colombia in Group K of the World. They first appeared at the mundial in 1974 as Zaire.
