Stalemate Saturday: TS Galaxy and Chippa split points as AmaZulu held by Orbit

The Betway Premiership delivered a day of deadlock on Saturday, with TS Galaxy, Chippa United, Orbit College, and AmaZulu FC all forced to settle for a single point in their respective encounters.

While the net rattled at Mbombela Stadium, it was a quiet afternoon for the scoreboards at Olympia Park and King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium as the race for final league positions intensifies.

TS Galaxy and Chilli Boys Trade Blows at Mbombela

In the day’s headline act, TS Galaxy and Chippa United played out a high-octane 1-1 draw in Mpumalanga. The visitors drew first blood in the 40th minute through Azola Matrose. The former Orlando Pirates winger reminded spectators of his clinical edge, finishing off a well-worked move to give the Chilli Boys the lead.

However, Sead Ramovic’s men wasted no time responding after the interval. Victor Letsoalo converted from the penalty spot in the 47th minute to restore parity. Despite TS Galaxy dominating the final hour—with Letsoalo and Seluleko Mahlambi spurning glorious opportunities—the winner remained elusive.

Log Impact: Galaxy sits 12th (28 points); Chippa follows in 13th (25 points).

Orbit College Frustrate High-Flying Usuthu

Over at Olympia Park, top-four hopefuls AmaZulu FC were left frustrated by a resilient Orbit College FC in a goalless affair.

The first half belonged to Orbit’s Siyabulela Mabele, who tormented the Usuthu backline and won several dangerous set-pieces. At the other end, Bayanda Thabede and Minenhle Ngcobo lacked the finishing touch to break the deadlock for the Durban-based giants.

“We created the chances, but at this level, you have to be clinical. It’s two points dropped for us,” remarked the AmaZulu camp following the stalemate.

Log Impact: AmaZulu remains 4th (44 points); Orbit College stays 14th (24 points).

Red Card Drama as Arrows Fail to Pierce Rise and Shine

At the King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium, Golden Arrows failed to capitalise on a numerical advantage, playing out a 0-0 draw against Polokwane City.

The match turned on its head in the first half when City’s Thabang Matuludi was sent off. Despite playing with ten men for over an hour, Phuti Mohafe’s side produced a defensive masterclass to keep Abafana Bes’thende at bay.

Log Impact: Polokwane City holds 6th (39 points); Arrows stay 8th (37 points).

Gallants Rescue a Point Against the Natal Rich Boyz

Meanwhile, at the Dr Molemela Stadium, Marumo Gallants survived an early scare to draw 1-1 with Richards Bay FC.

The visitors took the lead just five minutes in after a nervous Marvin Sikhosana turned the ball into his own net. Gallants eventually found their rhythm, with Bheki Mabuza netting his third of the campaign on the hour mark to ensure the spoils were shared.
