FKF Cup: Tusker and Kenya Police FC to face off in final

The Football Kenya Federation FKF Mozzart Bet Cup semifinals delivered a tense, cagey afternoon of football at Nyayo Stadium, with both matches ending 0-0 after regulation time and ultimately being decided from the penalty spot.

In the first semifinal, Tusker faced off against KCB in a tightly contested affair that offered few clear-cut chances.

With neither side able to break the deadlock after 90 minutes, the match headed to penalties. Tusker held their nerve in the shootout, edging KCB 4-3 to book their place in the final.

Police showed composure in penalties

The second semi-final between Kenya Police and Bandari followed a similar script, as both sides cancelled each other out in a disciplined 0-0 draw. Police, however, showed composure in the decisive moment, converting their penalties to win 5-3 and secure their spot in the final.

Police FC coach Nicholas Muyoti was elated to see his side reach their first-ever final in the knockout competition.

“We really had to fight for the spot in the final. I knew from the start Bandari was not an easy prey. They always never lose easily, and I am proud my boys stood tall during the decisive moments,” said Muyoti.

“We now know we have a final to play which comes with continental football, and we will prepare adequately to get the ticket for CAF Confederation Cup.”

Both matches highlighted the fine margins of knockout football, with goalkeepers and defensive lines playing pivotal roles throughout the afternoon.

Attention now shifts to the final, where Tusker and Police FC will battle for the FKF Cup title on May 14 at Kwale Stadium.
