The NBC Premier League continues today with two crucial Round 23 fixtures as teams continue battling for top four positions, CAF qualification spots, and survival in Tanzania’s top flight.

Both teams head into the match under pressure to secure maximum points for different reasons. The hosts are chasing a strong finish in the race for continental football, while Namungo are desperate to distance themselves from the relegation battle.
Singida Black Stars have enjoyed a solid run in recent league meetings, winning three of their last five matches, drawing one and losing once. The side currently sits fourth in the league standings with 35 points from 22 matches, having recorded 10 wins, five draws, and seven defeats.
For Namungo, the situation remains delicate. They have collected 24 points from 22 matches after five wins, nine draws, and eight defeats. The Lindi-based club is only two points above the relegation qualification zone, where Coastal Union FC sit on 22 points, making today’s clash vital for their survival hopes.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, Singida Black Stars head coach Muhibu Kanu acknowledged the challenge posed by Namungo but insisted his side is mentally prepared.
“We have completed our preparations for this game. It will be a difficult match because Namungo are experienced in this league and they are not a bad team,” said Kanu.
“We won our previous match, but we cannot continue thinking about the past game. We are entering this match with a positive mentality and full focus on getting a good result.”
On the other side, Namungo FC head coach Juma Mgunda admitted the importance of the fixture as both teams continue fighting for important points.
“This match against Singida Black Stars will be difficult because of the positions both teams are in. Every team needs points in order to improve their position in the standings,” said Mgunda.
“As Namungo FC, we are in good condition and we will fight hard for important points in today’s game.”
Later in the evening, TRA United FC will face JKT Tanzania at Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium in Arusha at 4:15 PM EAT in another highly anticipated clash.

TRA United head into the match full of confidence following their impressive 4-1 victory over Azam FC in their previous outing. Meanwhile, JKT Tanzania have dominated recent meetings between the two sides, winning four and drawing one of their last five encounters.
The match also carries major significance in the race for the top four. JKT Tanzania currently occupy fifth place with 35 points from 22 matches, while TRA United are sixth with 33 points. A victory for TRA could see them intensify pressure on the top-four teams.
Away from the league standings, the battle for the Golden Boot and assists leaderboard is also heating up. Feisal Salum leads the scoring charts with 10 goals for Azam FC, followed by Prince Dube with nine goals. Namungo striker Fabrice Ngoy has scored eight goals, while Iddy Selemani has netted seven times.
Feisal also tops the assists chart with eight assists, ahead of Allan Okello and Elie Mpanzu, who both have seven assists, while Duke Abuya has registered six assists this season.
