Inside the boardroom split that cost Beganovic his TS Galaxy job

Pan-Africa Football can reveal that TS Galaxy and head coach Adnan Beganovic have officially parted ways following a high-level boardroom meeting that culminated in a mutual agreement to sever ties.

The departure of the Bosnian tactician—alongside Technical Director Nermin Bašić—comes in the direct wake of the “crunch talks” previously reported by this publication. Management had demanded urgent answers for a catastrophic slump in the Betway Premiership, which has seen the Rockets plummet toward the relegation zone.

While the club officially thanked the duo for their “professionalism and commitment via a statement on Thursday,” the decision to shake up the technical team comes at a staggering juncture—just nine days before the club’s Nedbank Cup final clash against Durban City in Polokwane.

THE TRANSFER RIFT: WHY THE RELATIONSHIP SOURED BETWEEN BEGANOVIC AND TS GALAXY

Beyond the official club statement citing poor results, Pan-Africa Football has established that a fundamental disagreement over the club’s transfer policy served as the tipping point for the separation.

Sources privy to the Tuesday showdown reveal that Beganovic was vocal about the consequences of the club’s January business. The Bosnian reportedly argued that the mid-season sales of Khulumani Ndamane to Mamelodi Sundowns and Puso Dithejane to Chicago Fire effectively “gutted” the team’s core. It is understood that the coach had previously cautioned Chairman Tim Sukazi that these exits would leave the Rockets vulnerable—a warning that became a grim reality as the side leaked 21 goals in the wake of those departures.

“The Chairman’s stance was that the team’s current form demanded an immediate change in leadership to spark a turnaround,” a source informed this publication. “Beganovic, however, stood his ground, maintaining that no tactical shift could compensate for the loss of Ndamane and Dithejane’s quality. This deadlock led to the decision to move in different directions, with both parties signing off on a financial settlement to close the chapter.”

Beganovic leaves the Mbombela-based side in a bizarre position. While he oversaw a nightmare run of nine defeats in the last 10 league outings, he simultaneously guided the team to a major domestic cup final.

The Rockets currently sit on 25 points, just five points clear of the relegation play-off spot. With the club in a domestic freefall, the hierarchy felt a change was mandatory to avoid a late-season disaster and to spark life into their CAF Confederation Cup qualification hopes.

With no time to search for a permanent successor, the spotlight now turns to a club legend. Assistant coach Bernard Parker has been tasked with taking the wheel in an interim capacity.

The former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana striker inherits a squad haunted by “mental fragility.” Parker’s first task will be stabilising the ship for this weekend’s clash against Magesi FC before leading the Rockets into the showpiece final on May 2.
