Amr Adham, a member of the Board of Directors at Zamalek SC, has confirmed that the club intended to reach out to former head coach Jose Gomes to settle his outstanding dues, amounting to $120,000 for him and his coaching staff.
Adham stated: "Zamalek is keen to resolve the matter amicably with José Gomes, given the friendly relationship that exists between the club and the coach during his time at the White Castle. He had previously paid the release clause himself after terminating the contract from his side."
He added that Zamalek’s current board, which has already resolved many financial issues involving large sums, is committed to settling the Gomes matter in a friendly way that will not negatively impact the club during this period.
Jose Gomes had led Zamalek to achieve the CAF Confederation Cup title last season, as well as the CAF Super Cup at the start of the current campaign.
However, he departed the club in December 2024 to take charge of Al-Fateh SC in Saudi Arabia, where he remains in his role.
Zamalek SC recently announced that since the Board of Directors took office on October 23, 2023, the club has paid approximately $6,522,913 to former coaches, players, and clubs in order to settle legal cases that were filed against it.
