Stanley Nwabali calls West African leagues subpar to North and South African

Stanley Nwabali has disclosed that West African football leagues are currently subpar compared to those in South Africa and North Africa due to deep-seated structural issues.

The former Chippa United goalkeeper shared his insights in an interview with Brila FM, stating that inadequate player compensation in West African leagues is prompting talent to seek better-paying opportunities abroad.

Facilities and financial incentives

The Nigerian international also cited poor infrastructure and weak organizational structures as major drawbacks when compared to the South African and Moroccan leagues, where state-of-the-art stadiums and professional management are the standard.

“In West Africa, our leagues are not as good. We want to go to Europe, we want to come to South Africa, we want to go to Morocco.

The league, the pay is a little bit nice for a certain level of your team.

If your league is nice, you’re getting paid, you’re getting sponsors, what are you leaving for?”
