AFC Leopards with chance to dislodge rivals Gor Mahia at summit

AFC Leopards will move above Kenyan Premier League record holders Gor Mahia if they manage to win their FKF Premier League fixture against Kenya Police FC on Saturday.

After Gor Mahia squandered an opportunity to move five points clear after losing 1-0 against Tusker FC in their rescheduled fixture, AFC Leopards have their turn to sit at the summit.

While Gor Mahia have amassed 57 points from 27 points, AFC Leopards are two points behind them. A win for AFC will see them overtake Gor Mahia and stay top with 58 points, one point ahead.

Tusker eye second straight win

After their victory against Gor Mahia, Tusker will be in action against Sofapaka. The Brewers will be seeking to make it two wins out of two.

Tusker coach Julien Mette has warned his players not to underrate Sofapaka, who are struggling against relegation.

โ€œI do not expect a lot of surprises. They are going to fight and involve themselves in the duels,โ€ said Mette ahead of the game at Wangโ€™uru Stadium.

โ€œThe pitch in Mwea does not allow for teams to play a lot of passes and so we are going to face more long balls, set pieces and direct attacks, something I have made my team aware of.

โ€œHaving gotten all the points against Gor Mahia and Homeboyz; teams in the top five, we should be able to grab a win over Sofapaka if we are to deserve a place in the top four or three.โ€
