AFCON U-17: Prosper Ogum expresses confidence in Black Starlets squad

Ghana’s U-17 head coach, Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum, has expressed immense confidence in his selected squad ahead of the 2026 AFCON U-17 tournament scheduled for Morocco.

The former Asante Kotoko tactician officially unveiled his final roster for the 2026 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations shortly before the team’s scheduled journey to Rabat for the continental competition.

The finalised 21-man squad has now embarked on the trip to Morocco for the prestigious U-17 AFCON competition, which is set to kick off on May 13 and run until June 2.

Ghana has previously won two AFCON U-17 titles

Prosper Ogum stated: “We have carefully selected this squad based on current form, discipline, and tactical understanding,” Dr Ogum explained during the announcement.

“These boys have shown great commitment throughout our preparations, and I firmly believe they are ready to compete at the highest level of African football.

The Black Starlets recently engaged in two high-intensity friendly matches against Ivory Coast, recording one victory and one defeat at the Stade Alassane Ouattara ahead of the U-17 AFCON.

The Black Starlets are paired against heavyweights Algeria, Senegal, and South Africa in Group D, with Ghana chasing a historic third U-17 AFCON title after winning the trophy in 1995 and 1999.
