RB Leipzig head coach Ole Werner has unpacked an outstanding quality which makes Ivorian winger Yan Diomande a nightmare to defenders in the Bundesliga.
Werner commented on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) star after he delivered yet another masterclass for RB Leipzig as they strolled past Eintracht Frankfurt FC with a 3-0 victory on Saturday.

Yan Diomande was among the scorers in the Bundesliga match to secure a spot in European football for next season.
Commenting on the performance of Diomande, Werner described the African forward as too hot to handle on his day, citing his blistering pace which he described as unstoppable.
“We have several players that are capable of making the difference in a game—Yan is one of them,” said the coach. “He’s almost impossible to stop once he starts picking up speed.
“He’s got a good understanding of football and knows where he can create space for himself. As a result, he doesn’t even need to really include many dekes.”
Reacting to the praise from the coach, the Ivorian deflected the compliments from himself, choosing to credit team-mates for their effort and commitment.
“I try to improve every day in training,” he said. “I’m happy, both for myself and for the team, that I’m in such good form.”
“Our opponents often try to catch me on the wing and to close my right foot, which is why I cut inside. That then allowed me to get the ball back on my right foot and to shoot. My job is to work hard on the pitch. I want to end the season by being successful,” he added.
Diomande has now registered 12 goals in 29 Bundesliga appearances this season—not bad for the 19-year-old.
Such a form has kept the 2025 AFCON star on the radar of Europe’s top teams.
Some reports have linked the African with a move to Liverpool FC to replace Mohamed Salah. Other Premier League teams such as Manchester United and Chelsea have also emerged in the picture for the hot talent who is contracted to Leipzig until 2030.
He launched his career at Afi Si Komoe academy back home in Ivory Coast before securing a move to DM Academy in America.
The rising star was part of the Ivorian side that reached the 2025 AFCON quarter final stage where they lost 3-2 to Egypt.
