The Ghana national team star produced a brilliant backheel strike from Erling Haaland’s cross to give The Cityzens their 8th title in England’s premier cup competition.
Facing a Chelsea team desperate to qualify for continental football next season after a disastrous slide down the Premier League table, City encountered a determined team focused on keeping the match close. The favorites were the better side in the first half but struggled to create clear chances.
It was more of the same in the second half, with the stalemate continuing through the opening twenty minutes. However, City always looked a bit more likely to find the breakthrough with their superior attacking quality and that moment came in the 72nd minute with a moment of brilliance from Semenyo.

Now the focus turns back to a tight Premier League title chase, where Arsenal currently hold a two-point advantage with only two rounds remaining. City will have to win their final two matches, including Tuesday’s duel away from home at Bournemouth and next Sunday’s home fixture against Aston Villa, to have any chance of claiming the title.
Semenyo now has 7 goals and an assist in 20 matches across all competitions for City since joining in January.
