The Bhoys secured their 56th league crown after fighting back from a goal down to defeat Hearts 3–1 in front of their home fans at Celtic Park on Saturday.
Michael Steinwender put Hearts ahead in the 38th minute before Arne Engels equalised from the penalty spot late in the first half. Daizen Maeda and Callum Osmand added further goals after the break to hand Martin O’Neill’s side the crucial win. Iheanacho came on for Sebastian Tounekti at halftime as the Hoops sealed the title triumph.
Iheanacho played an important role in Celtic’s triumph, most notably keeping their championship hopes alive just days prior against Motherwell.
With the Glasgow giants heading toward a damaging draw that would have dented their title ambitions, the Nigerian international stepped up deep into stoppage time. In the 99th minute, Iheanacho coolly converted a high-pressure penalty to secure a dramatic 3–2 win, giving the Hoops the fighting chance they needed heading into the final day.
