Celtic manager Martin O’Neill has expressed his admiration for forward Kelechi Iheanacho’s match-winning goal during Wednesday’s thrilling 3-2 success against Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership.
The Nigerian star was introduced from the substitutes’ bench to convert a clinical penalty deep into injury time, marking his eighth successful strike of the campaign for the Hoops.
Reflecting on the performance during a post-match interview with Celtic TV, O’Neill commended the Nigerian international for the remarkable coolheadedness he displayed while dispatching the crucial spot-kick.
“The conclusion was incredibly dramatic, and for Iheanacho to volunteer for that penalty, combined with the style in which he finished it, was truly magnificent.
However, the fixture was always destined to be a gruelling challenge for us. Motherwell performed with the exact intensity they have shown throughout the year, but we showed resilience to recover and eventually reclaim the advantage. It was a superb goal.”
