Coventry City midfield anchor Frank Onyeka has officially been shortlisted for the prestigious Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month award for April.
The 28-year-old Nigerian international served as a model of consistency during the month under review, playing a pivotal role for the Sky Blues during a historic period. His dominant presence in the engine room was instrumental as Coventry City successfully clinched the Championship title and secured their long-awaited promotion back to the Premier League.
Onyeka’s influence was felt across several high-stakes fixtures throughout the month. He produced an outstanding individual display in the 3-1 home victory over Wrexham, where he proved clinical by scoring a vital goal and providing a pinpoint assist. Furthermore, his creative contributions continued in the hard-fought 1-1 draw away at Blackburn Rovers, where he provided another crucial assist to help secure a point on the road.
Following the club’s triumphant campaign, Coventry City’s promotion to the Premier League has officially triggered a mandatory permanent transfer for Onyeka from parent club Brentford.
The Nigerian star faces stiff competition for the individual accolade, with the other nominees for the April award including Christian Walton, Adrian Segečić, Josh Windass, Mohamed Touré, and Žan Vipotnik.
