Ghanaian coach Prince Yaw Owusu has left his role as interim head coach of Premier League club Asante Kotoko the club announced on Monday.
According to an official statement from the record premier league holders, the former Tema Youth trainer tendered his resignation letter, stating that his decision is in the best interest of the club.

Owusu stepped into the shoes of Abdul Karim Zito in February following the latter’s departure over strings of poor performances.
However, after an underwhelming results, the supporters agitation fueled speculations of his exit.
He was reported to have gone AWOL last week but the club watered down those claims describing them as mere rumours.

“Interim Head Coach Prince Yaw Owusu has stepped down from his role with immediate effect.
“The coach stated in his resignation letter that his decision was taken in the greatest interest of the club.
“Management expresses its sincere appreciation to Coach for his service, dedication, and commitment during his time with the club, and wishes him the very best in his future endeavours,” parts of the statement from Kotoko said.
Youth Team Coach Hamza Obeng has been asked to take temporary charge of Asante Kotoko for the remaining games of the season as they comb for a substantive coach.
The Porcupine Warriors struggled to find their feet under Prince Yaw Owusu who was reported to have had a strained relationship with the players.
A 4-0 loss against Medeama at the Tarkwa TnA Part finally broke the camel’s back, prompting managements to look elsewhere for a new technical direction.
Kotoko have recorded four losses, two victories and two draws in their last eight matches since Owusu took interim charge.
The two African champions, who sit 6th on the Ghana Premier league table with 43 points, will have a walkover in week 30 against Hohoe United who pulled out of the premier league.
Owusu previously coached Ghana sides, Tema Youth, Inter Allies, Medeama, Bechem United and also deputized former Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah at Sudan club, Al Khartoum.
